U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, who was appointed during President Donald Trump's first term, recently announced plans to step down. DeJoy wrote a resignation letter to the USPS's Board of Governors on Feb. 17 outlining his service through a global pandemic and inflation.

The decision comes after the U.S. Postal Service’s network consolidation garnered nationwide scrutiny among residents and lawmakers alike.
