Texas is scheduled to execute a man convicted of killing two men as part of a 2004 dispute with his boss at a strip club, and then years later prompted a massive lockdown of the state prison system when he used a cellphone smuggled into death row to threaten a lawmaker.

In 2004, Tabler murdered his strip club manager and another man in Killeen. The shooting happened on Thanksgiving and killed Mohammed-Amine Rahmouni, 28, and Haitham Zayed, 25. Rahmouni was the manager of a strip club, named TeaZers, where Tabler worked until he was later banned.

Richard Lee Tabler, 46, would be the second inmate executed in Texas in a little over a week, with two more scheduled by the end of April.
