Cal Fire released updated fire hazard maps for dozens of cities and towns in inland Northern California. All but one saw an increase in the number of acres in zones with heightened fire safety regulations.

A recent executive order by California Gov. Gavin Newsom aims to ramp up fire safety in urban areas as new maps released by the state show more than 1 million acres are at a higher risk of wildfires.

Cal Fire's new maps show Auburn increased its very high severity zone acreage to 800 this year compared to 326 acres a decade ago.
