S&P 500 futures rose Wednesday night, buoyed by a strong earnings report from artificial intelligence heavyweight Nvidia. Futures tied to the broad market index rose 0.3%, while Nasdaq 100 futures gained 0.5%. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures slipped 15 points.
Stock futures were climbing early Thursday following Nvidia earnings and after a federal trade court struck down President Donald Trump's tariffs.

But the bigger news was President Trump's threatened 25% tariff on goods imported to the U.S. by Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL ), which knocked the S&P 500's largest component stock lower on the day, taking the index lower by a smaller percentage along with it.
The S&P 500 is now just 3% from its record high despite continued uncertainty around the effect of tariffs on the economy.
