Red flag warnings signaling wildfire danger have been issued for parts of Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Montana and nearly the entire state of Minnesota.

A map showing Michigan’s fire risk highlights much of the Lower Peninsula in the “very high” risk category, with just a few spots in the “high risk” zone.

Elevated fire danger will exist May 12-13 as warm temperatures, low humidity levels and gusty winds become mixed with dry, fine vegetation and grasses, according to the weather service.
