Jared Jones’ second season in the big leagues is over before it even began. The Pittsburgh Pirates’ right-handed pitcher underwent elbow surgery and will not return in 2025. The 23-year-old Jones initially complained of elbow pain in mid-March.

The Pirates announced on Wednesday that right-hander Jared Jones underwent right elbow surgery to repair his UCL.

The Pirates are off to a terrible start to the season, posting a 16-33 record that leaves them in last place in the National League Central.
