The New Jersey Devils were off on Wednesday, but clinched their spot in the NHL playoffs anyway. With the New York Rangers loss to the Philadelphia Flyers Wednesday night, New Jersey locked up the third spot in the Metropolitan Division in the Altantic Conference.

While the Devils aren't heading into the postseason as a top contender, they've made plenty of strides since last season when they finished the year 38-39. The biggest addition this offseason was hiring new coach Sheldon Keefe.
