Since 2005, there have been 18 special sessions, and this year's would bring the total to 19. That has many wondering how much it costs state taxpayers when lawmakers can't settle on a budget during the regular session.

The deadline has come and gone, and the Minnesota Legislature is headed for a special session, where lawmakers will work to try and agree on a statewide budget among other priorities. FOX 9’s Corin Hoggard is live from the Capitol with the latest developments.

The Minnesota Legislature adjourned at midnight on Monday night after roughly four months of work, but major budget bills and appropriations were left unfinished. By state law, the legislature is constitutionally mandated to adjourn by the third Monday in May.
