A 30-year-old Schaumburg man is facing weapons charges after an investigation by Elgin police into a Dec. 26 shooting there.

Crews battling the Hughes fire in the Castaic area boosted containment to 56% and held the fire’s destruction to 10,396 acres as of Friday afternoon, Jan. 24, according to Cal Fire officials.
