As the City of Houston faces a more than $330 million budget deficit, the fire, police and solid waste departments’ projected overtime spending is more than double what was budgeted from its general fund.

According to the Controller's office, the City of Houston is on pace to bust the budget for overtime by $72 million this fiscal year, an all-time record.
