When President Donald Trump took the oath of office, he didn't have his hand on the Bible. Does this matter and why do politicians do it at all?
The idea was that if he or she lied his or her soul was condemned to hell. Several presidents before Trump did not use a Bible at all during their swearing in ceremonies though it is a tradition.
