Sudan’s army chief has appointed the country’s first prime minister since it plunged into civil war two years ago and following months of steady advances by the military against its paramilitary rival.

Sudan's army chief Abdel Fattah Burhan appointed Kamil Idris, a former UN official and ex-presidential candidate, as prime minister of Sudan's military-led government on Monday.

Kamil al-Taib Idris will be responsible for forming the country’s transitional government, two years after the country's civil war began in 2023. View on euronews
