The Healey administration said it will not enforce minimum electric vehicle sales requirements for model years 2026 and 2027, administratively taking a step that lawmakers have repeated sought to force legislatively.

Now passed by the House, the bill would remove incentives for automakers and EV customers alike, while also adding new registration fees for hybrid and electric car owners.

New EV Sales: The new EV market faced several challenges in April, reflecting broader economic trends. The volume of new EV sales declined by 5.9% month over month to 100,495 units, while the EV market share rose slightly to 6.9%. Year over year, the EV sales volume decreased by 5.6%.
