Their neck was long like other sauropods, and each vertebra was 3 feet (1 meter) long. Brachiosaurus stood 39 feet tall (12 meters) and had a body 75 feet long (23 meters).

Researchers named the dinosaur Mamenchisaurus sinocanadorum and connected it to several other long-necked sauropods from East Asia. But Mamenchisaurus’s true size remained an enigma.

The authors determined that to protect such a lightweight neck from getting hurt, the dinosaur had 13-foot-long rod-like cervical ribs on either side for stability.
