Costa Rica repatriation efforts are underway as the country collaborates with the United States to facilitate the return of illegal migrants from Central Asia and India. This initiative makes Costa Rica the third Central American nation to support U.

Costa Rica will receive 200 migrants, including Indians, who had illegally entered the US. It is the third Central American nation to offer to accept undocumented immigrants from the US. But why?

Costa Rica plans to accept Indian and Central Asian migrants deported by the US. The migrants will stay in a detention center until their repatriation, fully funded by the US government, and supervised by the International Organization for Migration.

“The Government of Costa Rica agreed to collaborate with the United States in the repatriation of 200 illegal immigrants to their country. These are people originating from countries in central Asia and India,” said the statement. The release did not say how many of them are from India.

According to the Costa Rican president's office, the first set of deportees will arrive in the country on Wednesday aboard a commercial flight. Earlier, Panama and Guatemala had also agreed to work with the US by temporarily sheltering illegal immigrants.
