Neighbors said they feel for the family who lost their car, now crushed by bricks and debris, after the top two floors of the building collapsed.

The building at 50 Vernon Street was vacant and there were no reported injuries, but responders evacuated a neighboring building as a precaution. When the Brookline Fire Department arrived around 10:00 a.m. they blocked off the area surrounding the building, which was littered with bricks.

The top two floors of the three-story building — located at 50 Vernon St. — collapsed around 10 a.m., town officials said in a press release. In response, the neighboring building at 52 Vernon St. was evacuated as a precaution.
