The Knicks (48-28) are 9-6 this season without Brunson in the lineup. They remain in the No. 3 spot after a 124-105 blowout loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday. The Knicks close out the regular season April 13 at the rival Brooklyn Nets.
Brunson hasn’t played since spraining his ankle on March 6. He needs four more games to qualify for postseason awards. If he doesn’t play in both games of back-to-back sets (the Knicks have two more of those), a return by this weekend will get him exactly to the 65-game threshold by the season finale in Brooklyn on April 13.

Brunson will miss his ninth consecutive game on Tuesday. While that is the case, head coach Tom Thibodeau said that Brunson isn't practicing yet, but he is making good progress. Brunson suffered an ankle injury in early March against the Los Angeles Lakers.

New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson is reportedly on the verge of returning from a right ankle sprain. Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters that Brunson had been "cleared for basketball activities" before Wednesday's 124-105 loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers,
