From trailblazers to inventors, Olympians, and politicians, numerous Black historical figures have left their marks on American history for decades. Unfortunately, a lot of their accomplishments are unsung and under-acknowledged.

Noted Black scholar and historian Carter G. Woodson, known as the Father of Black History, was born in 1875 to former slaves.  He worked on the family farm in West Virginia as well as in the coal mines nearby.

The president issued a proclamation recognizing February 2025 as Black History Month. But one race equity expert has something to say about Trump's "offensive" statement.
