Union workers of King Soopers grocery stores in Colorado Springs have voted to authorize an Unfair Labor Practice strike.

Employees from 10 King Soopers stores in the Colorado Springs area voted Friday to authorize a strike against the grocer King Soopers, joining union employees in the Metro Denver area who also voted to strike on Thursday.

Union workers in Pueblo have voted to authorize a strike over the weekend.According to the UFCW Local 7 Union’s social media, King Soopers Pueblo Meat workers voted 100% to authorize an Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) strike,

In a phone interview with The Denver Gazette, King Soopers and City Market President Joe Kelley said he is disappointed by the strike vote and thought the union’s decision is premature. Kelley has run Kroger’s Colorado stores since 2021. He said nobody won in the 2022 strike that lasted nine days, and no one will win in the next one, either.

King Soopers employees across metro Denver authorized a strike on January 30. Workers in Colorado Springs and Pueblo will consider doing the same this weekend.
