Nine wildfires are currently burning across Southern California as of Friday morning, five of which ignited yesterday.

Updating maps of Southern California show where wildfires, including the Palisades, Eaton and Hughes fires, are burning across Los Angeles.

Firefighters continue to battle multiple fires that broke out this month, destroying more than 16,000 structures and leaving at least 28 dead.

Two wildfires ignited early Tuesday in San Diego, California's Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said. The Lilac Fire had burned about 20 acres at a moderate rate of speed and was zero percent contained, Cal Fire’s San Diego department said in a statement posted on social media.

Rain and cooler temperatures will bring relief to Southern California this weekend, after a prolonged stretch of dry, breezy weather that allowed wildfires to thrive.

Twenty-eight people have died across the Los Angeles area. Officials have said the true death toll isn’t known as the fires continue to burn.
