As negotiations continue to secure a ceasefire in Ukraine, the country’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone call with a top Vatican diplomat to discuss the return of Ukrainian children and a prisoner exchange.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine on Friday said that he saw a good chance to end the war with Russia after Ukraine accepted a US proposal for a 30-day interim ceasefire. This was as Moscow said it would only agree if certain conditions were met.

Washington and Kyiv are both pushing for a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, but so far Russia has rejected the proposal. A meeting between representatives of the US and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia earlier this week has sparked hope for a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine.
