The Detroit Tigers are leading the American League Central, and a former MLB executive believes a Pittsburgh Pirates reliever should be a trade target.

The Detroit Tigers are being encouraged to reunite with an All-Star third basemen who was shipped out of the Motor City over a decade ago.

Among all MLB pitchers, he ranks in the 92nd percentile or better in expected ERA, average exit velocity, chase rate, whiff rate, strikeout rate, and walk rate. Simply put, he's one of the best pitchers in baseball, and he should carve up the poor Pittsburgh Pirates tonight.

Yet, the Tigers still have a solid lead atop the American League Central, leading the Minnesota Twins by nine games. The Pirates come into Detroit at the bottom of the NL Central, 11 games out of a Wild Card spot. Time: 6:40 p.m. ET
