The town of Topsfield is mourning after a mother fell to her death​ while hiking with her family at Purgatory Chasm in Sutton. WBZ-TV's Tiffany Chan reports.

SUTTON — A mother from Topsfield, hiking with three of her four children at Purgatory Chasm, died in a fall from a rock formation, according to authorities. Rescue crews were summoned to the state reservation near Route 146 about 2 p.m. April 23. A short time later, the request for a medical helicopter was canceled.

SUTTON, Mass. — A mother of four from Topsfield is dead after falling over 50 feet inside Purgatory Chasm State Reservation in Sutton on Wednesday, police tell Boston 25 News. State police troopers responded to the , just after 2:00 for the reported fall and pronounced the woman dead at the scene, a Massachusetts State Police spokesperson said.
