Rivian will sell its commercial electric vans to any U.S. business that wants one — more than a year since ending an exclusivity deal with backer Amazon.

Once the exclusive domain of Amazon drivers, Rivian opens sales of its Delivery 500 and 700 EV vans to fleets of all sizes.

Now, the platform on which the e-commerce giant based its delivery van is open to anyone with a fleet of commercial vehicles and some money to burn.

Rivian Automotive Inc. said it will now sell its electric delivery van designed for Amazon.com Inc. to other customers, a move to boost revenue from fleet operators as consumer demand for battery-powered cars slows.

Rivian is now taking orders for its commercial van from fleets of any size – yes, even as low as a single van.

Rivian is opening up sales of its delivery vans to fleets of all sizes in the United States, the electric vehicle maker said on Monday, more than a year after ending its exclusive deal with shareholder Amazon.

Rivian announced Monday that it would begin selling the vans to fleet customers. It'll come in two configurations: The smaller RCV 500 and the larger RCV 700. The RCV 500 comes with up to 161 miles of range, while the 700 can cover 160 miles on charge. Both are exclusively available with front-wheel drive.

If it gains traction, the commercial van could become a bigger source of revenue amid a broader slowdown in consumer EV uptake.
