The Marquette County Health Department confirmed the latest cases of measles Monday, the first on May 30 and the second on June 2. This coincides with what Michigan health officials are calling one of the worst years for measles in decades in Michigan, and a national surge in the virus that has caused three deaths since last May.

With the addition of two newly confirmed cases, there have been 10 measles cases in Michigan so far this year.

The Minnesota Department of Health has confirmed two more measles cases in the state, saying one case is concerning because officials can’t trace a known exposure to the infectious disease, which could mean that the virus is spreading in the state.
