The Detroit Tigers are off to an incredible start to the season. After making an improbable run to the playoffs last year, Detroit is 21-12 heading into Saturday and they are clear favorites to win the AL Central.

This loss marked their seventh consecutive defeat, and continues their ongoing struggles in pitching and late-game execution. In a historic and unfortunate turn, the Angels became the first team in the modern era to allow eight or more runs in the eighth inning or later in back-to-back games.

By doing so, Greene became the first player in MLB history to hit two home runs in the ninth inning of the same game. Greene also became the first Tigers player to hit two home runs in the same inning since 2007 when Magglio Ordonez did so in the second inning in a game against the Oakland Athletics.
