Iowa football addressed one of its positional needs on Friday. The Hawkeyes landed a commitment from South Dakota transfer cornerback Shahid Barros. A 6-foot-1, 195 pound cornerback, Barros appeared in 12 games and made 11 starts last season for the Coyotes. Barros tallied 41 tackles, four pass breakups, one interception and one sack.

Hecklinski, a former three-star quarterback out of Georgia in the 2024 recruiting class, signed with the Demon Deacons coming out of high school. He threw for over 3,800 yards and 50 touchdowns in his final season at Walton High School, which earned him a spot on the 2024 All-American Game roster.
