Earlier this morning, NOAA Hurricane Hunters found on their reconnaissance mission that Erin has strengthened into a Category 4 Major Hurricane with max sustained winds of 145 MPH.
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - Showers and thunderstorms rolled through the area in association with a surface disturbance on Friday, putting down some good rainfall in portions of the area. The higher amounts ended up being south of I-94. Here at the station, we picked up 0.02″ of rain.
We have declared First Alert Weather Days due to triple-digit “feels-like” temperatures and the possibility of strong to severe afternoon storms through Tuesday of next week.

Because of this, Saturday, Sunday and Monday have been labeled First Alert Days.The concern is that storms may not come in just one wave. Instead, we’re looking at multiple rounds, continuing into the overnight.
Expect sunny skies and unseasonably warm temperatures this afternoon, with highs reaching the middle 80’s to lower 90’s.
Minnesota’s Weather Authority has issued a Forecast First Alert for overnight and early Saturday. Strong storms are expected to develop with the potential of high wind and localized flash flooding. Friday has already been a warm and humid day with highs in the upper 80s.
THE NEXT BIG THING: The dangerous heat levels will continue through early next week, with isolated afternoon storms. However, heat levels will start to back off by next Thursday, with another big increase in the number of showers and storms each day.
