Carnival confirms reports two drowning deaths at Celebration Key less than a month after the $600 million private island destination opened to customers.

Even though Carnival Cruise Line has been hosting guests at its new private island in the Bahamas for less than a month, two guests have already died by drowning. Both deaths happened on Friday at Celebration Key — Carnival’s private island — and both incidents involved visitors in their 70s.

Two American tourists died hours apart at Carnival’s private Bahama resort on Friday, less than a month since the cruise line opened the $600 million Caribbean getaway destination.
