The evidence related to the killing of Karkare, IPS officer Ashok Kamte and well-known encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar showed they died in a burst of firing by Kasab and his accomplice Abu Ismail.

According to police sources, a 10-member police team led by assistant police inspector Vijay Salaskar trapped the notorious gangsters and asked them to surrender, when the duo opened fire.
