COPENHAGEN (Reuters) - Denmark's King Frederik was set on Monday to begin a visit to Greenland to underscore unity with the semi-autonomous Danish territory in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's interest in taking over the huge Arctic island.

Greenland on Sunday agreed with Denmark to boost their ties in response to US President Donald Trump’s interest in taking control of the strategically located Arctic island. Leaders of the two countries said this at a joint press conference in Copenhagen.

King Frederik X of Denmark arrived in Greenland on Tuesday, kicking off a visit to the semiautonomous territory that U.S. President Donald Trump wants to annex because of its strategic Arctic location.
