The president has called for harsh penalties for Tesla protesters. He had issued sweeping pardons for individuals charged in relation to the deadly Capitol riot.

President Trump on Friday compared the vandalization of Tesla dealerships across the U.S. to the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, arguing the level of attacks on Elon Musk’s company wasn’t seen at the Capitol.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s office in South Carolina, 24-year-old Daniel Clarke-Pounder was witnessed spray-painting “F*ck Trump” and “Long Live Ukraine” in red at Tesla charging stations, and reportedly he later used five Molotov cocktails to destroy the chargers. He was arrested and faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison.
