It wasn’t long ago that children in a remote Senegal village were kicking the ball to one another pretending to be Iliman Ndiaye - but ... the schoolchildren the family do so much to support.

Everton have signed Senegal forward Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille on a five-year contract for a fee in the region of £15m. The 24-year-old joined Marseille from Sheffield United last summer.

A worrying update emerged from Senegal during the international break too, with Ndiaye taking a knock in a 4-0 win over Malawi on Friday, in which he picked up an assist before he was withdrawn.
