On top of The Suicide Squad’s new footage, Gunn is also working on an HBO Max series, spinning off from the movie. The series will focus on the Peacemaker character played by John Cena in the movie.

Gunn also reinvents characters featured in the 2016 "Suicide Squad" movie. Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) wasn't very impressive in the earlier film, but he's a bonafide hero in this one.

The film also stars John Cena, Idris Elba, Pete Davidson, Joel Kinnaman, Alice Braga, Sylvester Stallone and Nathan Fillion. The Suicide Squad is in movie theaters on Aug. 6.
