The Kremlin said on Wednesday that it needed to be briefed by the United States on the outcome of U.S.-Ukrainian talks in Saudi Arabia before commenting on whether a proposed ceasefire in Ukraine was acceptable to Russia.

The Kremlin has said it does not want to get ahead of itself after Ukraine announced it was ready to accept an immediate 30-day ceasefire with Russia.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters Wednesday that Russia must get the details on U.S.-Ukrainian cease-fire talks before commenting on the proposal.

Russia emphasised the need for long-term security guarantees from international stakeholders before agreeing to any ceasefire.

The Kremlin didn’t comment on the agreement announced Tuesday between the U.S. and Ukraine on the provision of further military support, including intelligence sharing, and the possibility of a ceasefire that Washington backs.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday that it’s important not to “get ahead” of the question of responding to the ceasefire proposal. He told reporters that Moscow is awaiting “detailed information” about it from the U.
