The captain of a container ship is facing misdemeanor charges after reportedly sailing the 333-meter vessel into Seattle while intoxicated.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound were alerted by a Puget Sound Pilot who reported that the captain appeared intoxicated during a transit from an anchorage near Everett to the Port of Seattle. The pilot and first mate assumed control and navigated the ship to its berth without incident, officials said.
