DeepSeek says its updated text-to-image generator Janus pro-7B outperforms OpenAI's DALL-E 3 across multiple benchmarks.

DeepSeek's new open-source AI model surpassed Stability AI and Microsoft-backed OpenAI's models in benchmarks for image generation, the Chinese startup said in a technical report on Monday.

DeepSeek just dropped a new open-source multmodal AI model, Janus-Pro-7B. It is MIT opensource license. It’s multimodal (can generate images) and beats OpenAI’s DALL-E 3 and Stable Diffusion across GenEval and DPG-Bench benchmarks. This comes on top of all the R1 hype.

After taking on OpenAI's ChatGPT, DeepSeek is now going after DALL-E with its own new AI image generation model, Janus-Pro-7B.
