Washington officials have closed the only bridge to the northwest corner of the park over safety concerns. And they might not ever replace it.

In the Pacific Northwest, Washington offers the most dramatic scenery. The best place to enjoy the outdoors is in a National Park Service site. Visitors can find beaches, temperate rainforests and mountaintop wildflowers.

Washington State Department of Transportation closed the Carbon River Fairfax Bridge. Now parts of the Mount Rainier National Park are inaccessible.
