Golf fans will have to wait a bit longer to see Tiger Woods play. The 15-time major champion abruptly withdrew from the Genesis Invitational this week, saying that he was still processing the death of his mother and isn’t ready to play. Kultida Woods died unexpectedly at the age of 80 on Feb. 4.

Kultida Woods, who was from Thailand, met Tiger's father, Earl, during the Vietnam War. They moved to New York and married in 1969 before settling in California. The 15-time major winner's father died in 2006. The two were married for 37 years.

Woods, the tournament host of the Genesis Invitational, said he hoped to be at Torrey Pines later in the week and “appreciate the continued kindness since my Mom’s passing.”
