In the wake of the latest Lord of the Rings movie — The Hobbit — which was largely lambasted (isn't the book always better?) a LOTR Ball was held this past Saturday. Its revelers did not disappoint.

If you've watched "The Lord of the Rings" or "The Hobbit," it's abundantly clear that Elves are not bulletproof. They can die in battle. Weapons, violence, and accidents can hurt them.

Perhaps Elves have more advanced retinas in Tolkien's lore. Aragorn, in Lord of the Rings, "saw a shadow on the distant green, a dark swift-moving blur," but Legolas saw the details.
