German engineer Mueller is the first woman in F1 history to hold the coveted role, which provides the main point of contact between a team and a driver. The 33-year-old joined Haas as a performance engineer three years ago, after several years working in motorsport events such as the World Endurance Championship and European Le Mans Series.

Haas F1's Laura Mueller will as of 2025 be the first female race engineer in the history of F1, a fact she considers to be 'quite sad', which however, may have a positive impact on the main issue behind the lack of female technical personnel in the racing series.

German Laura Müller was hailed by her Haas team after becoming the first woman to operate as a race engineer in Formula One. She was the voice in driver Esteban Ocon's ear during the practice sessions on Friday for the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.
