Three flights headed to Reagan National Airport (DCA) were redirected Sunday morning as a police helicopter conducted an "urgent mission" in the airspace, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

At the time that the planes were redirected, a U.S. Park Police helicopter was searching for people reported missing from a vehicle that had flipped over in the area of the Key Bridge.

The Federal Aviation Administration said three commercial planes were given go-around commands Sunday morning due to the presence of a USPP helicopter.
