A workshop outside Rome containing 71 fake paintings falsely attributed to famous artists including Rembrandt van Rijn, Pablo Picasso, and Andy Warhol has been raided by Italy's art crime squad, local authorities announced.

Over 70 fake works were seized from an illicit forgery workshop in Rome that has been used to fake paintings by artists like Picasso and Rembrandt.

Italian police have have seized dozens of forged artworks attributed to famous artists such as Picasso and Rembrandt in what authorities have called a “clandestine painting laboratory.”

Some artists believe that if they can’t find fame in their own right then at least they can make a handsome living by copying modern and older masterpieces
