Harris County authorities were called to a home on Ellesmere Drive after a stepson reportedly found his stepmother in the garage unresponsive and his stepbrother with a hammer.

Harris County authorities are investigating after man was shot and killed while trying to force entry into his ex-girlfriend's home.

Deputies said the hammer may have been used in the woman’s death. An autopsy will be performed within 24 hours to confirm the cause and manner of death.

Officials say the victim's stepson came home, found his stepmom in the garage, then found his stepbrother with a hammer.
