Utah's Hogle Zoo welcomed a new giraffe calf.The male calf was born Friday evening to two of the zoo's giraffes, Stephanie and Ja.

SALT LAKE CITY — A new baby giraffe has joined the African Savanna barn at Utah's Hogle Zoo. The 169-pound baby boy giraffe calf was born last Friday at 8:45 p.m. and is 6 feet, 2 inches tall. He is his mom Stephanie's second calf, but the first for dad Ja, who was transferred from the Memphis Zoo on a breeding recommendation in 2022.

There is a new baby animal at Utah’s Hogle Zoo. The zoo announced its resident giraffes, Stephanie and Ja, gave birth to their newborn calf just before 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7. The male calf weighed 169 pounds and stood at 6 feet 2 inches tall.

A zoo in Utah welcomed a new baby – and it stands more than 6 feet tall and weighs close to 170 pounds. The baby giraffe was born at 8:45 p.m. Feb. 7 and “already shows strong, healthy behaviors – walking,
