The Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza says the war's death toll has risen to 53,901 since the Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attacks on Israel that sparked 19 months of fighting.

Gaza An Israeli air strike at dawn on Monday killed 25 people at a Gaza city school, according to medics. Graphic video footage, purportedly shot by rescuers, showed children's bodies being pulled from the rubble and paramedics desperately searching for survivors.

Dr Hamdi al-Najjar, 40, had just returned from dropping his wife, Dr Alaa al-Najjar, off at Nasser Hospital, where the couple both worked, when their home in Khan Younis was struck. Nine of their children were killed, while the 10th was severely injured.
