This year would be the last for a 30% tax credit for home solar panels and a $7,500 credit for electric vehicles if a proposal introduced in the US House of Representatives this week passes. It's still early in what could be a lengthy and contentious process for the federal budget.

That might include the EV tax credit, which is currently set to expire at the end of 2032. In general, the credit is worth up to $7,500 for qualified new vehicles, or up to $4,000 for qualified used vehicles. House Speaker Mike Johnson this week told Bloomberg that Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives might end the credit, however.

Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives on Monday proposed killing the electric vehicle tax credit and repealing fuel efficiency rules designed to prod automakers into building more zero-emission vehicles as part of a broad-based tax reform bill.
