Variety’s initial review of Snow White called it a “shining supernova,” but it’s safe to say that the general audience response didn’t quite agree with that glowing description. In fact, many critics have been much less kind, finding the film’s narrative, performances, and CGI-heavy visuals to be far from stellar.

While some reviews praise Zegler's performance and acknowledge the film's attempt to modernize the classic, others deride it as an unnecessary, lackluster cash grab that fails to capture the magic of the original 1937 animated classic.

In the end, the live-action version of the Disney classic is neither good enough to be a classic or bad enough to be a guilty pleasure; it's just ... there.
