Scientists have discovered a new species of dinosaur in Mongolia's Gobi Desert. Called Duonychus tsogtbaatari, the dinosaur has two foot-long clawed fingers on each hand, one fewer than its fellow therizinosauria.

Fossils unearthed during construction of a water pipeline in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia have revealed one of the oddest members of a rather strange group of dinosaurs, a creature whose two-fingered hands sport a pair of menacing curved claws.

While Duonychus tsogtbaatari had formidable claws, they were likely used to grasp vegetation, according to a study of a fully preserved fossil from the Gobi Desert.
