The man, a 41-year-old from Golden, Colorado, was climbing near Boulder Canyon Drive with his family and friends when they found him “unresponsive after what appeared to be a fall from 20 feet,” officials said. He died from his injuries.

A climber from Golden died Sunday afternoon after falling in the Riviera climbing area west of Boulder.

The sheriff's office says the victim was climbing with friends and family at the time of the fatal fall.
